Zombieland 2: Double Tap has been gathering some major steam over the past few months, especially as the movie has just begun its early stages of production with an October 19, 2019 release date in mind. With the original cast set to return to their familiar roles, there’s been a lot of hype for this continuation that’s been a decade in the making. But even with all this excitement, there’s still news dropping that’s been thrilling fans. According to an article published by The Geeks Worldwide, Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray will be set to appear in the sequel, apparently playing fictional versions of themselves.
Now this itself isn’t too crazy. In the original Zombieland, as many fans know, Murray played himself as one of the survivors of the zombie apocalypse, only to die from pulling a prank on one of the main characters. So having Aykroyd appear to do the same seems like a hilarious pick. However, with Murray having died in the first movie, there’s a bit of room to debate just how they’ll be portrayed. Will Aykroyd be alive and Murray dead? Will they both be part of a zombie presence that threatens the main characters? Or will they appear in some other way? Since the scope of their impact on the movie isn’t known yet, it’s purely speculation at this point.
With the original cast coming back and Ruben Fleischer returning to direct the sequel after his recent hit with Venom, the movie looks more and more promising. And now with two former SNL alums showing up to add some of their signature brand of comedy, Zombieland 2: Double Tap could turn out to be a bigger hit than its predecessor.
What do you think about Murray’s return to Zombieland 2? Will he and Aykroyd be good additions to the cast? Who would you like to see in Double Tap? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below, and to stay tuned for updates on further developments Subscribe by Email.
